DAY TRIPS FROM BARCELONA: Hiking, Cliff Diving and Snorkeling in La Costa Brava
Join us on the most beautiful coastal trails on La Costa Brava and create memories you cannot forget. We will walk along the historic and ancient path, La Camino Ronda. This experience is a mixture of exploration, adventure, history and culture.
Heading north to Costa Brava by private air-conditioned van, we will arrive in the heart of La Costa Brava, surrounded by protected beautiful pine-forested sea cliffs.
Parts of the ‘Camí Ronda’ go through narrow paths adapted for trekkers and walkers, which ascends and descends several times. On some occasions we also walk through sea promenades, beaches, natural and manmade stairs and flat paved paths. On our side we will be having stunning views of the Costa Brava Mediterranean sea, with its unique turquoise clear waters.
We will go through pine forests and a protected coastal area which includes the marine reserve, perfect for refreshing ourselves with a snorkeling, swimming and of course a couple of safe, not too high cliff jumps (ask more about these if you need).
This trail is easy and fun for beginners, however, you still need to be able to walk up rugged sloped paths. Upon reaching our final stop, we’ll sit down together in a local restaurant for a delicious meal.
We have several routes in La Costa Brava, especially designed so that you can make the most of the charms of the Costa Brava but trying to adapt to most levels. Thus to say, it’s not a fullon hiking day.
This is also not a cliff diving or snorkeling tour per say, they are just 2 refreshing and adventurous small parts of this tour.
Our Costa Brava excursion through the Cami de Ronda is divided into 3 sections:
Section 1 – From Sa Conca to S’agarò we follow a mostly concrete coastal path where you can observe and learn about all the history of the area. A short stop to recharge batteries, go to the toilet, have a drink or swim in the sea.
Section 2 – From S’Agarò we will start our accent to the top of dramatic sea cliffs with amazing views of the Mediterranean below. This along the coastline and we will stop to snorkel, swim and jump off rocks (optional). This is still a fairly moderate walk, however, some hills and steps are involved. Throughout the journey we will have the Mediterranean Sea and its crystal clear waters at our sides. We will continue along the Cami de Ronda and discover the many magical small and hidden coves. Final destination Sant Feliu de Guixols.
Section 3 – This section of the Camino Ronda finishes right at our food stop. A local restaurant with a traditional menu. In the cooler months we’ll also have some time to explore the town of Sant Feliu de Guixols.

Where do the tours start and when should I arrive?
Our meeting spot is a cafeteria called Boheme. It’s very close to Parc Ciutadella, the Zoo and the beaches (Map and directions provided with your booking confirmation). Please arrive 10 minutes before your tour is scheduled to begin.
How many people will there be per group?
Each tour will take up to a maximum of 8 people.
What if I am unable to swim, can I do this?
You can still join us on the hiking part of the tour, however, we are guides not swimming instructors so if you cannot swim, you may have to sit the snorkeling part out.
Do I need to be an experienced snorkeller/hiker?
Not necessarily! We’ve had many different client profiles on the tour, ranging from children to 80-year-old first-timers who’ve joined us and have had a great time! Just keep in mind the walking distance is around 5Km and sometimes with no shade.
Where do we keep our stuff during the activity?
Please only bring with you essentials needed for the activity. We will be taking everything with us, so travel light. We will have a secure dry bag for your valuables when we’re on the water.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable walking shoes / strapped sandals or sneakers. Dress appropriately for the season. Feel free to bring sun protection such as hats and glasses etc. If you are planning on swimming, come with your swim wear already under your clothes.
What should I bring?
- Drinking water, good footwear that you don’t mind getting wet. Water shoes work great.
- Sun protection (Hat, glasses and sun cream).
- Anything else such as a waterproof camera and snacks is OK.
Where are we going and how will we get there?
We will take a private minivan up the coast towards France. It’s about 1 hour and 15 minutes through the Catalonian valleys. We will start in Sa Conca and finish in Sant Feliu de Guixols.
How fast do you walk? Will I be able to keep up? Will I get bored moving too slowly?
Our pace depends on the group, but we generally take our time. We should have plenty of time to reach our destination so we’ll keep things moving, but of course won’t leave anyone behind!
Will we go into caves?
If we have time and the conditions are great we will, but it’s not a priority on this tour, you can check out our Kayaking and Snorkeling tour which does include caves.
Will I get wet?
That’s up to you! Only if you decide to jump in the sea and/or it rains of course! It’s all part of the fun. However, the degree to which you get wet depends on the day, and snorkeling is not compulsory, you can chill out on land while the rest explore.
Can I just come along for the hiking not snorkeling?
Yes, of course. If you don’t fancy snorkeling, you can stay on land, sunbathe on the rocks, relax or explore the area.
Can I just come along for the snorkeling, not the hiking?
No, to get to the snorkelling spots we need to hike first ;). This is mainly a walking / hiking tour! that includes some snorkeling / swimming.
Will I see any wildlife?
Yes, we will hopefully see lots of animals in their natural habitat. Of course, this depends on the sea conditions of the day. However, we hope to see Octopus, Moray Eels, Cormorants and lots of other kinds of fish and birds.
Is the sea cold?
This tour only runs all year round, however, we recommend only snorkeling during the summer months. During the winter, we will concentrate more on exploring the area.
What can I bring on the tour?
We recommend bringing as little as possible. Feel free to bring a waterproof camera and a bottle of water. If you have any medication, diabetic snacks etc., then we can provide a waterproof bag.
Who will be taking me on the tour?
One of our experienced and highly trained guides will lead you and your group on the tour. Each guide has extensive knowledge of the area and is trained in water safety and first aid.
I’m already in Costa Brava, can I meet you directly there?
Lucky you, and yes. Just email us before booking and we will send you the address, parking info and itinerary. We will also be able to give you a discount if you ask for a discount code before booking.
Do you have weight , size or age limits?
Unfortunately yes. Minimum of 12 years old or 135cm tall.
What’s the snorkeling like in Costa Brava?
Well, don’t expect the Mediterranean to be like the great barrier reef or the red sea. However, it can be very rewarding playing with an octopus and getting up close to a Moray Eel. Every day is different, and we sometimes get some unexpected visitors such as Stingrays.
Where is your office in Barcelona?
We are an office-less company, that way we keep our overheads low and can pass these savings onto you.
Do I need to tip my guide?
Tips are never expected but always appreciated 😉 No, but seriously this depends on you and whether you feel comfortable with tipping and feel that it has been earned!
