Summer is just about here folks. As the days get warmer more and more of us will be looking lo refresh ourselves in the Mediterranean. Barcelona is a beach city and therefore having a stroll as a minimum down the beach boulevard is a must. If your looking to do water sports in Barcelona then these beaches listed below is a good start.
The best beaches of Barcelona
- Barceloneta Beach is near the most known neighborhood with the same name. It is the most visited beach by tourists. However, some people might not like it for the same reason that is crowded most of the time. Luckily the fact that it’s crowded with people might not be such a big deal since there are a lot of things to do. If you are looking to feast on fresh seafood this is the place to visit. There are also plenty of activities on the water like swimming or more extreme sports such as windsurfing.
- Ocata Beach is at north of Barcelona and you can go there by train which takes about half an hour. Ocata Beach is known for its white sand and the fact that it is not so crowded compared to other beaches. If you are looking for a place to bathe under the sun or swim in the water in peace, then this is the beach for you. The beach is very spacious so you will definitely find a place where no one will bother you.
- Nova Icaria Beach is known to be the most peaceful from all beaches in Barcelona. This makes it the perfect gateway for people with children and those who just look for a relaxing bathing under the sun. Even though this beach is quite quiet compared to the others, it is filled with bars and restaurants where you can taste delicious local dishes.
- Bogatell Beach is about 600 meters long which makes it one of the smallest beaches in Barcelona. It is known to be a much safer place as well. For this reason the people that visit it are mostly elderly. You can still find many fun Barcelona activities such as volleyball or ping pong. This beach is also the perfect spot for a family with kids.
- Sant Sebastia is located at the east end of Barcelona. It is about one kilometer long and this makes it one of the largest beaches in Barcelona. It is an attraction not just for tourists but the locals frequently visit the beach as well. Sant Sebastia is very similar to Barceloneta in the way that it is very active, music everywhere, people playing volleyball or riding Jet Skis. Sant Sebastia is also filled with restaurants, bars and night clubs which are the perfect place where you can find anything you want.
- Mar Bella is best known for its quietness. It may not have as many bars and restaurants compared to other beaches but it is preferred by people who like to not be bothered by other people while relaxing under the sun. Because the beach is not so crowded, it is the perfect spot for some water sports in Barcelona.
