Don’t panic! We still have tons of sun to enjoy the season, and Barcelona is so much fun. Did you know it has more than 100 kilometers (62 miles) of seacoast? If you want to extend your horizons and skip Barceloneta (please, do!), keep reading! We made this mini guide to recommend some beaches you should visit.

  • Sitges This charming cute small town has 26 beaches –including nude ones- to enjoy with friends, your loved one, and it is good for families. It is super gay friendly (the Gay Parade is world famous). People from all over the world visit the zone every year because it has it all: culture, party, and a happy time under the sun. It is easy to reach by train or bus (no need to rent a car!), the sea has just the perfect temperature (refreshing but not too cool), and everything keeps opened on Sunday’s. Oh! Moreover, if you are an Instagram freak, there is no way to go wrong with a picture of Sitges.

  • Calella At north from Mataró, this city is well connected by train, bus, or car. It is a very versatile place. You can enjoy the beach, nightlife and restaurants. You can visit Las Rocas beach for a quite time with transparent water. Garbí is more family oriented and the kids will love the Water Sport Centre. And ‘Gran’ is a beach located at the center of the city, if you like to have activities and cultural events, this is your place.

  • Costa Brava Yeah… it is a touristic hook but it is inevitable. Costa Brava has beauty, adventure, party, traditions, culture, history, wine making…. It is just AMAZING. Between the 40´s and 70’s celebrities and personalities made this place their own. Ava Gardner, Marcel Duchamp, Truman Capote, Liz Taylor, and Rock Hudson were frequent visitors. You can go the pretty villages (for example, Cadaqués, ‘the most beautiful town in the world’, according to Salvador Dalí. You walk along to port Lligat to visit the artist’s house) and see the medieval ruins in Tossa de Mar. The coast is just unbelievable, the crystal water, the caves, and the chance to do something extra fun like kayaking, snorkeling or just enjoy a great day at the beach. • Vilanova i la Geltrú It is located at the south of Sitges and has 6 kilometers of beaches with a wide space of sand. You can swim and enjoy of nautical activities in romantic and modernist environment. During this week, they celebrate the Fiesta Mayor de la Virgen de las Nieves, where traditional characters like dragons, gypsies, and giants take part in the parade.

  • Sant Pol de Mar You can go by car but we recommend more to do it by train (tinto de verano is something you should enjoy this summer). Right off the train, you will see the main beach, which is super nice to spend the whole day. In general, the vibes are quieter, with more space at the beach and some water games. If you walk a little bit you can find less populated areas if you feel like you need some calm time.
